Manton Happenings-Fishing Derby-part two

Well, this is the last day of the Fishing Derby at Lake Billings Park, so Socks and I took another stroll over there one more time. The weather was just perfect again, and there were still quite a few people fishing and having all sorts of fun. Although the weather was fine my allergies were kicking up quite a fuss, so we didn't stay very long this time. However, we did take some nice pictures of some of the artwork displayed around the park by some of our local artists, and we would like to share them to you.

Manton Happenings

April 27, 2013
Socks and I went back to the park again this morning and found almost twice as many people there as there was yesterday, and most were trying to catch the big prize in day #1 of Manton's Fishing Derby. They were also doing all sorts of other things like barbecuing, walking, riding bikes, playing, and FISHING. And of course Socks had to have her nose in everything. But boy it sure was a beautiful day. It was really nice and warm. However, the gentle breeze that was blowing off the lake kept the temperature from getting too hot. In other words, it was perfect. In fact it was the first day that I didn't need to wear a jacket, and many others were wearing shorts and tank-tops. And oh how I wish I could describe the smell of all those campfires and the food. Those smells were absolutely delicious! There's just nothing like the aroma of wood burning in an open pit! It smelled so good that it brought back sweet memories of the times when my family and I used to go camping down south. I CAN'T WAIT FOR ANOTHER ADVENTURE IN THE PARK TOMORROW!! But I think Socks and I will take along a nice lunch this time because all that tantalizing aroma sure made us hungry!

I just had to include this one!

Manton Happenings

Well, it looks like everyone is getting all set up for Manton's annual Tagged Fish Derby this weekend so Socks and I decided to take a stroll over there to see what's happening. While we were there we counted over a dozen campers all waiting to get started. Here are some highlights from our adventure. We're hoping the weather is nice tomorrow so we can catch a glimpse of some action.

Here Socks is full of anticipation

Do you think there might be some girls here?

Isn't this one a cutie?

Ah, what a cute couple!

Socks is all tuckered out. Poor girl!

April 26, 2011

Today has been a dreary day. The weather was wet and cool, making our mood even more depressing than usual. There were no birds to watch, and even the squirrels seemed to know a storm was coming because they seemed to be very skittish and only came onto the porch to eat a couple of times. The only bright spots of the day were the sightings of the five White-Tailed Deer http://www.fcps.edu/islandcreekes/ecology/white-tailed_deer.ht... out in the field (the first we have seen this year) and the fact that mom is doing better after her short hospital stay. Hopefully tomorrow will be much better.
